A truth-talking politician? “Czech” this out, from Vaclav Klaus, President of the Czech Republic – truly amazing! From The Financial Times, June 13, 2007 – “Freedom, not climate, is at risk”:
…Rational and freedom-loving people have to respond. The dictates of political correctness are strict and only one permitted truth, not for the first time in human history, is imposed on us. Everything else is denounced.
…As someone who lived under communism for most of his life, I feel obliged to say that I see the biggest threat to freedom, democracy, the market economy and prosperity now in ambitious environmentalism, not in communism. This ideology wants to replace the free and spontaneous evolution of mankind by a sort of central (now global) planning.
…As a witness to today’s worldwide debate on climate change, I suggest the following:
■Small climate changes do not demand far-reaching restrictive measures
■Any suppression of freedom and democracy should be avoided
■Instead of organising people from above, let us allow everyone to live as he wants
■Let us resist the politicisation of science and oppose the term “scientific consensus”, which is always achieved only by a loud minority, never by a silent majority
■Instead of speaking about “the environment”, let us be attentive to it in our personal behaviour
■Let us be humble but confident in the spontaneous evolution of human society. Let us trust its rationality and not try to slow it down or divert it in any direction
■Let us not scare ourselves with catastrophic forecasts, or use them to defend and promote irrational interventions in human lives.
God bless Vaclav Klaus, who understands the totalitarian impulse better than most. Freedom brings us progress; central planning brings us devastation. What I would give to see a debate between Klaus and Al Gore…

The fact that somebody gets it gives me hope!
I have been speaking out against environmental extremists for decades. I have always felt like a voice in the wilderness.
Face facts. All new age environmentalists lie (often unconsciously) to impose their “religious” beliefs on the unwitting masses.
I recall the actress Jessica Walters (“Play Misty for Me” with Clint Eastwood) doing World Wildlife Fund Public Service Announcements in which she stated that “Nearly ALL species of wildlife will be extinct by the end of the decade!” That decade was the 1970s. Somehow, I managed to have missed an Extinction Level Event!
The “science” surrounding Anthropogenic Global Warming is no different and is certainly nowhere near “settled”. That is merely a sorry excuse by the ideological left to avoid honest debate.
It is about time that someone, who fully comprehends the grave nature of Stalinist Communism, made the requisite comparison to the plethora of “green” movements — the Global Warming Movement, chief among them.
As a conscientious conservationist, I maintain a much smaller “carbon footprint” (a bogus measure) than most Global Warming zealots. Doubtless, it is an order of magnitude smaller than the likes of the prize-winning prevaricator Albert Gore III, prophet of doom. Or should I have said “Profit FROM Doom” (http://generationim.com/philosophy/)?
We really need to expose the Global Warming fraud for the grave threat that it poses to human liberties before the damage becomes irreversible. How that may be accomplished, when government funding is thousands of times that of the private sector, will require deft coordination.
